THE TALK

At what age will I have to sit him down and say, Apollo we live in a world full of hate.

Your skin is a weapon so they think.

If you ever get pulled over by the police no sudden moves don’t even blink.

Should I fill my kid with such fear.

I cry as I think about young Tamir.

Black boys and black men just can’t be black.

The way they are killing them you’d think they have  a target on their backs.

So many beautiful black people we have lost.

I’m drained as I sit here weeping wondering when  will I have to have THE TALK.
